Architectural photographer David Cardelús (1967) specializes in representing contemporary architecture works for international architectural firms and publishing companies.

David Cardelús photographs have been praised as having a distinctive graphical plasticity: his mains goals in photographing contemporary architecture projects are depicting them to provide his clients with images that are both dedicated aesthetic objects and powerful communication tools.

David Cardelús Architectural Photography uses state of the art digital technology. David plans, shots and processes all his photographs to get the best from the combined vision of both the architect and the photographer.

David is based in Barcelona, from where he travels wherever his assignments require him to fly.

I graduated from Universitat de Barcelona Fine Arts School in 1991, specializing in photography, film and video: there I studied also painting, drawing and sculputure as well as narrative, semiotics and communication. I took some courses too at the Institut d' Estudis Fotogràfics de Catalunya on subjects as XIXth century photographic techniques and representing the human body.

This background has developed in me a particular taste for light, form and color and a discerning eye for accurate composition through abstraction and technical skill.

After leaving school, I began my professional practice working for the publishing industry in Barcelona. Over the years, I have known many publishing companies and I have worked for many interior designers and architectural firms. My assignments have given me the opportunity to travel to distant locations and meeting quite interesting people: I specially remember my first assignments in Paris and New York for Peter Marino + Associates.

I have been finalist for the European Architectural Photography Prize Architekturbild twice in 1995 and 1999 and my personal work has participated at both Photo España 2001 and Primavera Fotogràfica 2002 photo festivals: I have had some of my photographs exhibited at museums and galleries like Galerie Aedes in Berlin and Harvard Design School in Cambridge, MA.

Since year 2005, I am teaching some lectures on architectural photography at ELISAVA school for graduates taking master degrees on interior design. We look at many different architectural photographs and discuss how to use them as communication tools in books, magazines and blogs.

I keep myself updated with new photographic equipment, imaging software and books in order to improve my skills and learning more about the many interesting aspects of photography as an art and profession.

I am currently living in Gràcia district, the best little village in Barcelona city.
